The Idaho Department of Insurance has revealed the approved health care rate increases for 2017. The average cost for individual plans offered through Your Health Idaho (the state health care exchange) will be 24% higher than 2016.
SelectHealth and Mountain Health CO-OP were granted the highest average statewide rate increases for individuals plans at 29%, followed by BridgeSpan Health at 23%, Blue Cross at 19%, and PacificSource Health at 15%.
According to the Idaho Department of Insurance, “a key driver of the increases is the level of health claims paid compared to the premium collected.” A table found on the Individual Medical Plans web page shows premium collected compared to paid claims in Idaho.
